Dental Practitioners
This section provides information and services for registered dental practitioners. It includes pathways for registration, renewal, certification, and other regulatory services. Many services are available online through the MySLMC Portal. Other services, which require submission of prescribed application forms and supporting documents to the SLMC at the moment, will be added to MySLMC Portal in due course.
Registration Services
Provisional Registration
Initial registration for BDS or equivalent graduates from a recognised institution. Enables commencement of the mandatory dental internship year.
Registration (Section 43)
The permanent registration enables dental practitioners qualified to practice dentistry and dental surgery in Sri Lanka under Section 43 of the Medical Ordinance upon successful completion of the internship.
Specialist Registration
A dental practitioner registered under Section 43 of the Medical Ordinance and in possesses of any dental qualification specified under Section 39A of the Medical Ordinance is eligible to apply for registration under Section 39B of the Medical Ordinance as a dental specialist, subject to compliance with the applicable requirements and procedures prescribed by the Sri Lanka Medical Council.
Renewal & Restoration
Renewal of Registration
Renew your registration to practice Dentistry and Dental surgery at the prescribed intervals by the Sri Lanka Medical Council via the MySLMC portal.
Restoration of Registration
Restoration of registration is entitled to the dental practitioners whose registration has lapsed due to non-renewal during the prescribed intervals.
Certificates & Documents
Certificate of Good Standing
Apply for an official Certificate of Good Standing confirming your current registration status and professional standing with the Sri Lanka Medical Council. The certificate is commonly required for overseas employment, professional registration with foreign regulatory authorities, postgraduate training, higher education, or immigration purposes. It is issued within 1-2 working days
Certified Extract of Registration
An Official Extract from the Register of Dental Practitioners may be issued to confirm a practitioner's registration details. This document may be requested in cases where the original Permanent Registration Certificate has been lost, damaged or destroyed.
Additional Qualification Registration
Register a postgraduate fellowship or other additional academic dental qualification with your existing SLMC registration record.
Certified Internship Certificate
Request an official Certified Internship Certificate confirming the successful completion of your compulsory internship training. This certificate may be required for professional registration, employment, postgraduate training, or other official purposes.
Other Services
Change of Information
Keep your registration record accurate and up to date by notifying the Sri Lanka Medical Council of any changes to your personal or professional information. You may apply to update your name, registered residential address, contact details, or other particulars recorded in the Register of Dental Practitioners.
SLMC ID Card
Apply for a replacement SLMC Identity Card if your existing card has been lost, damaged, or destroyed. You may also request an updated identity card following approved changes to your personal or professional information recorded with the Sri Lanka Medical Council.
Letter of Request
Request an official letter from the Sri Lanka Medical Council containing your registration details or other information required for professional, academic, administrative, legal, or other official purposes. Requests are considered in accordance with the information required and the Council's applicable procedures.

Complete this application to request official verification of your Sri Lanka Medical Council (SLMC) registration. Ensure all required information and supporting documents are provided.

Use this application to request an official verification of your Sri Lanka Medical Council (SLMC) registration for submission to a foreign regulatory authority. Please complete all required information accurately and attach the necessary supporting documents and payment receipt before submitting your application.
