Terms & Conditions
The terms that govern your use of the Sri Lanka Medical Council website and its online services.
These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Sri Lanka Medical Council ("SLMC", "we", "us", or "our") website. By accessing or using this website, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree with any part of these Terms, please do not use this website.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing this website, you confirm that you accept these Terms and agree to comply with them. These Terms apply to all visitors, users, and others who access this website.
2. Use of This Website
You agree to use this website only for lawful purposes. You must not:
- Interfere with or disrupt the security, integrity, or performance of this website.
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of this website or its underlying systems.
- Misuse the online practitioner register, verification services, or any online form for a purpose other than that for which it is intended.
- Submit false, misleading, or fraudulent information through any form on this website.
3. Accuracy of Information
Content on this website is provided for general informational purposes. While we take reasonable care to keep information accurate and up to date, this website is under active development and some content may be incomplete or out of date. Where a decision depends on a practitioner's registration status or any other official matter, please verify the information through our official online register or by contacting SLMC directly. In the event of any conflict, the Medical Ordinance, its subsidiary regulations, and official gazette notifications take precedence over any summary provided on this website.
4. Online Services and the MySLMC Portal
Certain services, such as online registration and renewal, are provided through the MySLMC portal or other linked systems, which may be subject to their own additional terms of use.
5. Intellectual Property
Unless otherwise stated, all content on this website — including text, graphics, logos, and the SLMC name and emblem — is the property of the Sri Lanka Medical Council or its licensors and is protected by applicable intellectual property law. You may view and download content for personal, non-commercial use only, and must not reproduce, distribute, or modify it without our prior written permission.
6. Registration Verification Services
The online practitioner register is provided as a public information service. Where a formal written verification is required — for example, by an employer or foreign authority — this should be obtained through the official verification process rather than relied upon solely from the online register.
7. Limitation of Liability
To the extent permitted by law, SLMC shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, this website or its content.
8. External Links
This website may contain links to third-party websites provided for your convenience. SLMC does not endorse and is not responsible for the content, accuracy, or practices of any linked external website.
9. Complaints and Disciplinary Process
The submission and handling of complaints against practitioners is governed by the Medical Ordinance and the Medical Disciplinary (Procedure) Regulations, 1990. Nothing in these Terms affects your statutory rights, or SLMC's statutory obligations, under that framework.
10. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Sri Lanka, and any disputes arising from your use of this website shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Sri Lanka.
11. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with a revised "Last updated" date. Continued use of this website after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.
