Registration Services

Registered AHP Categories

These professions play an essential role in the delivery of healthcare services and include disciplines as follow.

Nursing Council

Nursing

Registered General Nurses (RGN), midwives, and specialist nursing practitioners. Requires completion of an accredited nursing degree or diploma.

Pharmacy Board

Pharmacy

Registered Pharmacists holding a BPharm or equivalent from a recognised institution. Licensed to dispense, counsel, and compound medications.

Physio Board

Physiotherapy

Registered Physiotherapists holding a BPT or equivalent. Provides evidence-based physical rehabilitation and therapeutic intervention.

MLT Board

Medical Laboratory Technology

Registered Medical Laboratory Technologists (MLT) performing diagnostic laboratory investigations and quality assurance.

Radiology Board

Radiography

Registered Radiographers and Radiotherapy Technologists operating medical imaging equipment and delivering radiation therapy.

OT Board

Occupational Therapy

Registered Occupational Therapists supporting rehabilitation across physical and mental health conditions.

SLT Board

Speech & Language Therapy

Registered Speech-Language Therapists assessing and treating communication, voice, and swallowing disorders.

Optometry Board

Registered Optometrists providing primary eye care including refractive assessment and detection of ocular pathology.

O&P Board

Orthotics & Prosthetics

Registered Orthotists and Prosthetists designing and fitting orthotic and prosthetic devices to improve mobility.

Registered Dietitians providing medical nutrition therapy and nutritional management across clinical settings.

Registration Process

All Allied Health Professionals follow a four-step registration process with SLMC.

Check Eligibility

Verify your qualification is from an SLMC-recognised institution for your specific discipline. Each AHP category has defined minimum qualification requirements.

Prepare Documents

Gather certified copies of all required documents including degree certificates, transcripts, identification, and the completed SLMC application form for your category.

Submit Application

Submit your completed application with all supporting documents and the prescribed fee through the MySLMC portal or in person at the SLMC office.

Receive Certificate

Upon approval, your registration certificate will be issued. Annual renewal is required to maintain your registration status in good standing.

General Registration Requirements

While specific requirements vary by discipline, the following documents are required for all AHP registration applications.

  • Degree/diploma from a recognised institution in your discipline
  • Academic transcripts certified by the awarding institution
  • Certified copy of birth certificate
  • National Identity Card or passport copy
  • Two recent passport-sized photographs
  • Certificate of internship / supervised practice (where applicable)
  • Completed SLMC AHP application form for your category
  • Prescribed registration fee payment receipt
  • Current SLMC registration certificate
  • CPD completion log for the registration year
  • Evidence of continued professional development (as required)
  • Completed renewal form via MySLMC portal
  • Prescribed renewal fee payment
  • Previous SLMC registration certificate
  • Explanation of reason for lapse (statutory declaration)
  • CPD records for the lapsed period (where available)
  • Evidence of continued professional practice or retraining
  • Completed restoration application form
  • Prescribed restoration fee
  • Valid AHP registration in country of origin
  • Certificate of Good Standing from home regulator
  • Invitation or appointment letter from a Sri Lankan institution
  • Passport copy (valid for duration of registration)
  • Completed SLMC temporary registration application
  • Prescribed temporary registration fee

Processing Time

AHP applications are typically processed within 15–20 working days. Ensure all documents are complete to avoid delays.

CPD Requirements

Registered AHPs must accumulate a minimum number of CPD credits annually as specified by their disciplinary board.

Fee Payment

Fees vary by AHP category and registration type. All fees are non-refundable once an application is processed.
